A Photo of a Mermaid Body painting I did for the first International Makeup Artist Trade show in Sydney. I made the Bra, the Crown and the latex Tail.

Thanks for the nice words, no they are latex tails, can't swim in them though, only pose. Have started working on a functional on though.

I am planning on making my tail from recycled neoprene from wetsuits. I have the wetsuits and my pattern done... Just need to get going on the construction process when I have time. School's been getting really busy. I guess i'll have to wait till the end of finals.

It's really quite amazing. I left you a comment on your profile, you really may want to consider joining a forum I'm involved in :)

I'm a performing mermaid and have a silicone tail. This was so amazing I thought your work was CGI at first! I'd love to chat. I've also shared your link around the community so expect a flood of comments I'm sure!

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback it's appreciated. Sure I'd love to join the forum, I think I need to learn how to use the site more as when I type in forums I get other people's work but not a forum as such.

Not sure how those would hold up in actual use in the water, but for photo props, that is pretty darned astounding.

Thanks, they are more for posing. Latex is water proof and can go in the water and the other mermaid I have one here was in the water. You cant swim in these ones though as the fin is not rigid enough, so that is part of the reason why they are more for posing. I do have an understanding of how to make a functional tail and what to use as I am a Makeup Artist with SPFX training in molding and sculpture so once I have the money I will make a functional tail different to most of the ones I see as I dont like the shape of the tail fin.

Many tails are latex so I think the actual tail would. This one doesn't look like there's a monofin, just a foot pocket. The other tail he has posted looks more like mine with the big flat fluke so I think it would be an easier swim
